In this 7-week hands-on workshop\, we’ll dive into the nearly-forgotten craft of bobbin lace – from winding your first bobbins to  creating beautiful samples. No experience needed – just focus\, curiosity\, a love of learning something truly unique and a fascination for keeping traditions alive. \nEach session builds on the last\, guiding you step-by-step into this  historic\, meditative art form. The kit includes everything you need as well as handouts for future reference. \nTICKET PRICING & MATERIAL COST:\nRegular ticket price: $319 + taxes (HST) \nNBCCD staff\, faculty\, and current students receive 20% off regular ticket sales while supplies last. She is studying local traditions from all over the world\, learning several techniques simultaneously through online classes\, creating original artwork\, and is very excited to pass on her knowledge. DESCRIPTION:7-WEEK COURSE\, Every Thursday\, from 6 PM – 9 PM\nDates: October 1 to November 12 – 2026 \nStudents with little to no background in hand-knitting will be taught the basics from cast-on to cast-off in this cozy\, quiet class. They will learn introductory cast-on and off methods\, how to work fundamental stitches including knitting\, purling\, increases and decreases among others. You’ll continue building your skills through both wheel work and some handbuilding sessions\, exploring surface treatments\, trimming\, and glazing along the way. Projects will be tailored to your experience level\, with guidance to help you grow your confidence and creativity in clay. After attending a workshop at NBCCD and lamenting that it was over way too quickly\, she began studying Ceramics in the Diploma program at NBCCD. She studied Fine Craft: Ceramics part-time at NBCCD until 2019\, when she set up her own studio at home. Currently she works in her studio creating wheel-thrown and handbuilt functional pieces that bring joy to her customers day to day\, and brings her peace in the work that she does. Join the instructor Soup Merritt-Carr for an engaging 7-week journey to learn jewellery making. \nIn our well-equipped studio\, you’ll embark on your jewellery-making adventure\, starting with the basics. Under Soup’s guidance\, you will learn essential benchwork techniques like sawing\, piercing\, filing\, and sanding. Once you’ve mastered these techniques\, you’ll advance to using the jeweller’s torch to bring your pieces to life. Finally\, you’ll finish your creations\, ensuring they are beautifully finished and polished\, ready to be worn with pride\, all while maintaining a safe and healthy environment. \nThroughout the course\, you will work with a variety of materials\, including copper\, brass\, and sterling silver. With these materials\, you will craft a pierced pendant\, a band ring\, and a chainmail bracelet. Get your hands dirty and get ready to create your own ceramic pots. Learn about the different pottery tools\, how to center on the wheel\, and work on finishing with trimming and glazing. We will start with the basic cylinder\, from which you can make just about anything! Inspired by the forest\, her work explores texture\, light\, and the quiet beauty of nature through functional and sculptural ceramics. \nAlongside her studio practice\, Dimitra teaches pottery through community programs and workshops\, sharing technical skills and a love of working with clay.
