SUMMARY:FULL - Make a Scarf on a Rigid Heddle - Alyson Scott
DESCRIPTION:ONE-DAY WORKSHOP – May 24\, 2026 | 9 am – 4 pm\nJoin us for a full-day introduction to rigid heddle weaving\, taught by experienced weaver and instructor Alyson Scott. In this hands-on workshop\, students will learn the complete process of warping a rigid heddle loom and weaving their very own scarf from start to finish. \nUsing beautifully hand-dyed and spun merino yarn from Legacy Lane Fiber Co\, each participant will create a one-of-a-kind scarf that showcases both their new weaving skills and the unique character of the fiber. Whether you’re brand new to weaving or looking to refresh your skills\, this immersive class offers a relaxed and supportive environment to explore the art of loom weaving. \nBy the end of the day\, students will have gained enough experience to decide whether they’d like to continue their weaving journey further. \nTICKET PRICING & MATERIAL COST:\nRegular ticket price (April 15): $129 + taxes (HST) \nNBCCD staff\, faculty\, and current students receive 20% off regular ticket sales while supplies last. Find the NBCCD Discount ticket below. \nAdditional material fee: $60 to be paid to the instructor on the day of the workshop. \nAdditional instructions: Bring a pair of scissors\, pen and notebook to take notes. \nFAQ and refund information can be found at the bottom of this page. \nTHE INSTRUCTOR:\nAlyson Scott is a passionate textile artist based in Sussex\, New Brunswick. After graduating from the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design in 2005\, she co-founded Legacy Lane Fiber Mill with her sister\, specializing in alpaca fibre and producing high-quality\, Canadian-made yarn and textiles. Over the years\, the mill expanded to include a full-service weaving studio\, custom dyeing\, and machine knitting. \nIn addition to production work\, Alyson runs a textile-focused retail space in downtown Sussex\, where she offers fibre arts workshops and supports creative collaborations. Her work reflects a deep commitment to craftsmanship\, community\, and the sustainable growth of textile arts in Atlantic Canada. \nLearn more about what we do at Honeybee Folk School and what courses we have coming up!
