DESCRIPTION:5-DAY COURSE\, Monday to Friday – July 6 to 10\, 2026 | 9 am – 4 pm\nGain the skills and knowledge required to create custom-fit outfits from scratch with NBCCD Fashion Instructor\, Nicole Daigle\, as your teacher. In this course\, you will learn how to draft patterns from your (or a friend’s) measurements\, alter them so they fit any body type perfectly\, and manipulate those patterns into designs. \nThe course begins with mastering the fundamentals of pattern drafting\, starting with drafting a precise bodice pattern. Through mock-ups and fittings\, you’ll refine your patterns to ensure a perfect fit for any body type. Nicole will lead demonstrations on various manipulation techniques\, empowering you to transform your basic blocks into intricate designs\, including slash and spread\, gathering\, and adding ease. \nAs you progress\, you’ll delve into drafting skirt and sleeve patterns\, honing your skills further and expanding your design repertoire. By the end of the course\, you’ll leave with a fitted bodice and pant block\, equipped with the knowledge and techniques to unleash your creativity and pursue your passion for fashion design. SUMMARY:Intro to Machine Knitting - Natasha Cliche
DESCRIPTION:5-DAY COURSE\, Monday to Friday – July 6 to 10\, 2026 | 9 am – 4 pm\nIn this 5-day introductory workshop\, participants will learn how to transform yarn into fabric using a domestic knitting machine. No prior knitting experience is required. \nThroughout the week\, students will be introduced to the basic functions of the knitting machine and develop foundational skills such as casting on\, knitting rows\, managing tension\, and binding off. SUMMARY:Ceramics: Wheel Throwing for All Levels - Brenda Parks
DESCRIPTION:5-DAY COURSE\, Monday to Friday – July 13 to 17\, 2026 | 9 am – 4 pm\nIn this 5-day course\, Brenda Parks will guide students through the fundamentals of working with clay while also supporting those who are ready to expand their skills. This class is open to all levels\, including beginners and returning students. Beginners will learn the essential techniques of wheel throwing\, including how to center clay\, use basic pottery tools\, and create foundational forms such as the cylinder. From there\, students will explore trimming and glazing to complete their first ceramic pieces. \nReturning and intermediate students will have the opportunity to refine their techniques\, explore more complex forms\, and develop their personal approach to wheel-thrown ceramics with guided support. After attending a workshop at NBCCD and lamenting that it was over way too quickly\, she began studying Ceramics in the Diploma program at NBCCD. She studied Fine Craft: Ceramics part-time at NBCCD until 2019\, when she set up her own studio at home. Currently she works in her studio creating wheel-thrown and handbuilt functional pieces that bring joy to her customers day to day\, and brings her peace in the work that she does. Join the instructor Mackenzie Russell for an engaging 5-day journey to learn jewellery making. \nIn our well-equipped studio\, you’ll embark on your jewellery-making adventure\, starting with the basics. Under Mackenzie’s guidance\, you will learn essential benchwork techniques like sawing\, piercing\, filing\, and sanding. Once you’ve mastered these techniques\, you’ll advance to using the jeweller’s torch to bring your pieces to life. Finally\, you’ll finish your creations\, ensuring they are beautifully finished and polished\, ready to be worn with pride\, all while maintaining a safe and healthy environment. \nThroughout the course\, you will work with a variety of materials\, including copper\, brass\, and sterling silver. With these materials\, you will craft a pendant\, a band ring\, and a chainmail bracelet.
