SUMMARY:Embellishment and Surface Design for Pottery - Kim Benoit
DESCRIPTION:5-WEEK COURSE\, Every Thursday\, from 6 PM – 9 PM\nDates: October 23 to November 20 – 2025 \nTake your pottery to the next level by learning how to beautifully embellish and decorate your ceramic pieces. In this hands-on class\, students will spend the first two sessions throwing forms that will serve as canvases for surface design. \nWe’ll explore a variety of decorative techniques including Mishima (inlay)\, Sgraffito (scratch-through)\, and carving—each offering unique ways to enhance texture\, pattern\, and personal expression in your work. Whether you’re looking to refine your style or add new techniques to your toolbox\, this class will inspire your creativity and deepen your connection to clay. \nTICKET PRICING & MATERIAL COST:\nRegular ticket price (August 13): $269 + taxes (HST) \n NBCCD staff\, faculty\, and current students receive 20% off regular ticket sales while supplies last. Find the NBCCD Discount ticket below. \nAdditional material fee: Students will be required to bring or expect to purchase at the college store a bag of clay\, throwing and trimming tools. \nAdditional instructions: Please bring an apron and a small towel for hands. \nAdditional glazing fee: The final session is designated for waxing and glazing. If you are unable to attend on that day\, the instructor will finish your pieces for an additional fee of $5 per piece.  \nFAQ and refund information can be found at the bottom of this page. \nTHE INSTRUCTOR: \nIntroduced to pottery in 2013 through a NBCCD workshop\, Kim’s passion for this art form deepened over the next 8 years as she refined her skills under the guidance of four different potters. Her dedication to the craft led her to retire from the healthcare industry and enroll in NBCCD to expand her skills and refine her own pottery style. Kim works as a full-time potter out of her studio in Lincoln\, NB. Her work has been sold at the Fredericton Garrison Night Market\, the NBCCD Christmas Craft Sale\, showcased at the “All Fired Up” George Fry gallery show and on Instagram @ArtnWarebyKim. \nLearn more about what we do at Honeybee Folk School and what courses we have coming up!
