Participants will learn about various kinds of wool and discover the magic of turning wool into art! Needle felting is a soothing and satisfying fiber art that uses barbed needles to sculpt wool into beautiful scenes and textures. In this workshop\, you’ll learn the basics of felting while creating your own wool “painting” of a scenic landscape — no experience needed! The instructor will provide samples and walk participants through the needle-felting process\, with step by step instructions to create your piece. The class will focus on different metal texturing techniques using various hammers and stamps. Participants will also learn how to saw\, sand\, file\, drill\, and polish metal. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Design. From 2018 to 2023 she worked and lived in Shanghai\, China. From 2022 to 2024 Alina studied at Falmouth University (UK) and received her master’s degree in Illustration online. She graduated from New Brunswick College of Craft and Design with an advanced studio practice certificate. She was awarded a grant from artsNB in 2025 to support her artistic projects in New Brunswick. Alina exhibited her art in galleries in Russia\, China\, the UK\, the USA and Canada over the past 6 years.  \nAlina has gained extensive experience as an art teacher at an international school in Shanghai\, where she developed and taught creative courses for students of various ages. In addition\, she has provided personalized art tutoring over the past six years\, helping individuals build their skills and express their creativity. She studied Fine Craft: Ceramics part-time at NBCCD until 2019\, when she set up her own studio at home. In this 7-week hands-on workshop\, we’ll dive into the nearly-forgotten craft of bobbin lace – from winding your first bobbins to  creating beautiful samples. No experience needed – just focus\, curiosity\, a love of learning something truly unique and a fascination for keeping traditions alive. \nEach session builds on the last\, guiding you step-by-step into this  historic\, meditative art form. The kit includes everything you need as well as handouts for future reference. \nTICKET PRICING & MATERIAL COST:\nRegular ticket price (August): $319 + taxes (HST) \nNBCCD staff\, faculty\, and current students receive 20% off regular ticket sales while supplies last. You’ll continue building your skills through both wheel work and some handbuilding sessions\, exploring surface treatments\, trimming\, and glazing along the way. Projects will be tailored to your experience level\, with guidance to help you grow your confidence and creativity in clay. After attending a workshop at NBCCD and lamenting that it was over way too quickly\, she began studying Ceramics in the Diploma program at NBCCD. She studied Fine Craft: Ceramics part-time at NBCCD until 2019\, when she set up her own studio at home. Currently she works in her studio creating wheel-thrown and handbuilt functional pieces that bring joy to her customers day to day\, and brings her peace in the work that she does. She moved to Canada to study in her area again\, and is now working towards an additional path in fashion.
