SUMMARY:Intro to Weaving - Karen LeBlanc
DESCRIPTION:7- SESSIONS COURSE\, from 6 PM – 9 PM – July 6\, 7\, 8\, 9\, 13\, 14\, 15  – 2026\nIn this 7-session course\, Karen will take you through all the steps of weaving on a floor loom – from measuring your warp threads to cutting your first handwoven project off the loom! She will guide you through the vocabulary of weaving and you will go home with your own handwoven scarf\, a pair of tea towels or other project (please check with the instructor on appropriate projects). The creative choices will be up to you. A love of yarn is encouraged but no weaving experience is necessary! \nTICKET PRICING & MATERIAL COST:\nRegular ticket price (April 15): $319 + taxes (HST) \nNBCCD staff\, faculty\, and current students receive 20% off regular ticket sales while supplies last. Find the NBCCD Discount ticket below. \nAdditional material fee: $35 to be paid to the instructor on the day of the workshop. \nFAQ and refund information can be found at the bottom of this page. \nTHE INSTRUCTOR:\nKaren LeBlanc has practiced the fine art of weaving for over 50 years. After retiring from a senior project manager position with an Indigenous non-profit organization\, Karen gives back to the community through her artwork and time. Her pieces focus on several distinct streams: weaving traditional\, functional\, and practical pieces; weaving innovative\, contemporary tapestries; and repurposing tartan kilts into stitched ornaments. She has participated in residencies programs in Fredericton\, Toronto\, and Parrsboro. Karen is an award-winning weaver\, exhibiting her work internationally. She installed three permanent public art pieces\, and three temporary public art pieces.
