After attending a workshop at NBCCD and lamenting that it was over way too quickly\, she began studying Ceramics in the Diploma program at NBCCD. She studied Fine Craft: Ceramics part-time at NBCCD until 2019\, when she set up her own studio at home. Currently she works in her studio creating wheel-thrown and handbuilt functional pieces that bring joy to her customers day to day\, and brings her peace in the work that she does. No previous sewing or embroidery experience is necessary\, but good hand-eye coordination is a must. You will learn how to stitch outlines\, create different textures\, and blend colours in order to make your embroidered image as stylized or realistic as you like. \nAfter making a small sampler to try out a variety of stitches\, you will design and embroider an image of your choice. She learned to read and write at the same time she learned to crochet and cross stitch\, but with much more enthusiasm. She moved to Canada as an exchange student and stayed to complete her diploma in Fashion Design from the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design (NBCCD). She spent 3 years in England making theater costumes for a living. Participants will learn the fundamental techniques used to create a classic round willow basket\, from preparing the base and weaving the sides to shaping and finishing with a decorative border. Along the way\, you’ll become familiar with the language\, tools\, and methods of working with willow while building practical skills that can be applied to many different basket styles. Also working with cultivated willow from her own farm\, she has been practicing the craft of basketry for the past decade. DESCRIPTION:ONE-DAY WORKSHOP – October 24\, 2026 | 9 am – 4 pm\nDiscover the creative possibilities of Worbla and other thermoplastics in this hands-on introductory workshop! Learn the essential methods and techniques for heating\, shaping\, and finishing these versatile materials while exploring their many creative applications. \nAlthough thermoplastics are widely used in cosplay and costume making\, they are also valuable materials for sculpture\, fashion\, prop making\, and other artistic projects. Through demonstrations\, sample pieces\, and guided instruction\, you’ll learn about different thermoplastic materials\, where to source them\, and how to incorporate them into your own creative practice. \nThroughout the workshop\, you’ll build practical skills by creating a beginner-friendly project of your choice: either a small sculpted character or a custom bracer (forearm armour piece)\, with plenty of opportunities to personalize and decorate your design. DESCRIPTION:2-DAY WORKSHOP – October 24 & 25 \, 2026 | 9 am – 4 pm\nJoin printmaker Natt Cann for an introduction to 4-colour reduction linocut printing. In this hands-on workshop\, participants will learn the fundamentals of reduction printing\, colour layering\, safe carving techniques\, and how to successfully print a multi-colour image from a single block. \nThroughout the day\, you’ll explore image transfer methods\, registration techniques\, carving strategies\, and the printing process while creating your own edition of layered linocut prints. Class sizes are limited to six participants to ensure plenty of workspace and individualized instruction. Through printmaking\, installation\, photography\, and collaborative projects\, his practice examines place\, memory\, and contemporary Canadian identity. \nNatt’s work has been exhibited across Canada and supported by ArtsNB and the Canada Council for the Arts. His recent projects include Forlorn\, Knock Knock!\, and the collaborative initiative Recollect\, bringing together artists\, activists\, writers\, and historians from across New Brunswick. Participants will learn the fundamental techniques used to create a classic round willow basket\, from preparing the base and weaving the sides to shaping and finishing with a decorative border. Along the way\, you’ll become familiar with the language\, tools\, and methods of working with willow while building practical skills that can be applied to many different basket styles. Inspired by an upbringing by two visual artists as well as her mother’s love of gardening\, her work as a vegetable and flower farmer on Big Barn Little Farm\, a business she co-owns with her husband\, has led her to experiment with growing and harvesting wild plant material that is suitable for drying and crafting into everlasting bouquets and wreaths. Also working with cultivated willow from her own farm\, she has been practicing the craft of basketry for the past decade.
