Gather together with makers of all levels to learn new skills and celebrate traditional crafts and regenerative living. Whether you're interested in half-day workshops or multi-week courses, there's something for everyone! Located in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, we offer hands-on experiences in a variety of subjects, all taught in either the beautiful studios at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design (NBCCD) or one of our partnering locations.
Intro to Ceramics – Dimitra Bountalas
SEVEN WEEK COURSE, Every Tuesday from 6 PM – 9 PM
Dates: October 6 to November 17, 2025
In this 7-week course, Dimitra Bountalas will teach you the basics of clay. Get your hands dirty and get ready to create your own ceramic pots. Learn about the different pottery tools, how to center on the wheel, and work on finishing with trimming and glazing. We will start with the basic cylinder, from which you can make just about anything! Join this course and learn the basics of wheel throwing and make your first pots on the pottery wheel.

On the first evening participants will be required to purchase the materials below Materials available in the College Store.
- Half Box of Clay – Approx. $35
- Beginner tool set – Approx. $25
- #423 Aluminum Double loop – Approx. $12
Additional glazing fee: The final session is designated for waxing and glazing. If you are unable to attend on that day, the instructor will finish your pieces for an additional fee of $5 per piece.

THE INSTRUCTOR:
Dimitra Bountalas is a ceramic artist based in Fredericton, NB, and the maker behind Mietch Makes Pots. A graduate of NBCCD’s Advanced Studio Practice and Fine Craft: Ceramics programs, she also holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts from UNB. Inspired by the forest, her work explores texture, light, and the quiet beauty of nature through functional and sculptural ceramics.
Alongside her studio practice, Dimitra teaches pottery through community programs and workshops, sharing technical skills and a love of working with clay. She has exhibited and sold work across the Maritimes and is active in the ceramics community through collective projects, residencies, and her role with the ceramics collective Mud Buds.

FAQ
Refunds
If a request for a refund is submitted at least 14 days before the course begins, you will be eligible for a 94% refund. A 6% deduction will cover the administration costs and stripe service fee. For refund requests made between 8 and 13 days before the course begins, a 75% refund will be granted. If a refund request is received within 7 days or less before the course start date, a refund will not be issued unless we can fill your spot with another participant. In the event that a participant cannot attend an in-person course due to illness, they can receive a Honeybee voucher for 75% of the value of their course that can be paid towards another class in the future. The participant will need to notify the Honeybee Coordinator before the course begins.
Cancellations
If a workshop is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances regarding the instructor facilities or low enrolment, a 100% refund will be granted to registered participants. If class is cancelled due to weather, the course will be moved to the following weekend (unless otherwise specified). If you cannot attend the new scheduled time, you will be granted a 100% refund.
