Gather together with makers of all levels to learn new skills and celebrate traditional crafts and regenerative living. Whether you're interested in half-day workshops or multi-week courses, there's something for everyone! Located in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, we offer hands-on experiences in a variety of subjects, all taught in either the beautiful studios at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design (NBCCD) or one of our partnering locations.

FULL – Introduction to Raku Firing – Leigh Merrit

Dates: October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 from 6 to 9 pm + Saturday, November 2 (weather permitting) 9 to 4 pm.
Experience the joy and excitement of Raku pottery in this 7 session course. Students will explore various glazing techniques and fire vessels using the traditional Raku process. Learn how combustible materials contribute to the distinct and unpredictable qualities of Raku-fired pieces. Each student will take home several finished pieces, showcasing their individual artistic expressions. This workshop is a perfect blend of creativity, learning, and fun, offering a hands-on introduction to the fascinating world of Raku firing.

Regular ticket price (August 14, 12 pm- September 22, 11:30pm): $409

Additional material fees:
On the first evening participants will be required to purchase materials below. Materials are available in the College Store.
Box of Raku clay – (price varies per box of clay). One-two boxes may be necessary. Pottery tool sets are available at the college store or students are welcome to bring their own set of tools

THE INSTRUCTOR:
Leigh Merritt was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick and grew up in the rural community of Tay Creek where he currently resides. After completing his BA at St.Thomas University in 2005 he went on to study at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design (NBCCD). He earned his Foundation Visual Arts Certificate in 2006, a Certificate in Specialty Photography in 2008, a Diploma in Fine Craft – Ceramics in 2010, and a certificate in Advanced Studies Visual Arts in 2011.

FAQ
Refunds
If a request for a refund is submitted at least 14 days before the course begins, you will be eligible for a 94% refund. A 6% deduction will cover the administration costs and stripe service fee. For refund requests made between 8 and 13 days before the course begins, a 75% refund will be granted. If a refund request is received within 7 days or less before the course start date, a refund will not be issued unless we can fill your spot with another participant. In the event that a participant cannot attend an in-person course due to illness, they can receive a Honeybee voucher for 75% of the value of their course that can be paid towards another class in the future. The participant will need to notify the Honeybee Coordinator before the course begins.
Cancellations
If a workshop is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances regarding the instructor facilities or low enrolment, a 100% refund will be granted to registered participants. If class is cancelled due to weather, the course will be moved to the following weekend (unless otherwise specified). If you cannot attend the new scheduled time, you will be granted a 100% refund.
