Gather together with makers of all levels to learn new skills and celebrate traditional crafts and regenerative living. Whether you're interested in half-day workshops or multi-week courses, there's something for everyone! Located in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, we offer hands-on experiences in a variety of subjects, all taught in either the beautiful studios at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design (NBCCD) or one of our partnering locations.

FULL – Introduction to Indigenous Foraging – Darren Peter-Paul

2-HOUR WORKSHOP – July 20, 2024 | 1 pm – 3 pm

HALF-DAY WORKSHOP

Join us at Killarney Lake for a foragers foray into plant identification and intro to local ethnobotany with Darren Peter-Paul. On this walk participants will explore the historical/ cultural knowledge and perspectives on New Brunswick’s flora and fungi, as well as discuss safety protocols and indigenous harvesting practices and principles. No prior experience necessary- just bring your curiosity and a desire to connect and deepen your relationship with New Brunswick’s local ecology.

Regular ticket price (March 22, 12 pm – July 7, 11:30 pm): $45

Additional Instructions: Please bring a notebook, hiking clothes, a basket or bag, a small harvest knife, possibly rainwear, open mind.

THE INSTRUCTOR:

Darren Peter-Paul is a young chef specializing in Indigenous cuisine from Metepengiag in Miramichi, NB. He has been featured twice as a chef for Taste of the Atlantic and Taste of Turtle Island. Currently, he is conducting research on Indigenous cuisine and psychology at the University of New Brunswick. Darren is also honing his skills as an apprentice at Gahan House Riverside.

FAQ

Refunds

If a request for a refund is submitted at least 14 days before the course begins, you will be eligible for a 94% refund. A 6% deduction will cover the administration costs and stripe service fee. For refund requests made between 8 and 13 days before the course begins, a 75% refund will be granted. If a refund request is received within 7 days or less before the course start date, a refund will not be issued unless we can fill your spot with another participant. In the event that a participant cannot attend an in-person course due to illness, they can receive a Honeybee voucher for 75% of the value of their course that can be paid towards another class in the future. The participant will need to notify the Honeybee Coordinator before the course begins.

Cancellations

If a workshop is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances regarding the instructor facilities or low enrolment, a 100% refund will be granted to registered participants. If class is cancelled due to weather, the course will be moved to the following weekend (unless otherwise specified). If you cannot attend the new scheduled time, you will be granted a 100% refund.
