Cosplay Costume | Intro to Thermoplastics – Jessica Calhoun

ONE-DAY WORKSHOP – October 10, 2026 | 9 am – 4 pm
Discover the creative possibilities of Worbla and other thermoplastics in this hands-on introductory workshop! Learn the essential methods and techniques for heating, shaping, and finishing these versatile materials while exploring their many creative applications.
Although thermoplastics are widely used in cosplay and costume making, they are also valuable materials for sculpture, fashion, prop making, and other artistic projects. Through demonstrations, sample pieces, and guided instruction, you’ll learn about different thermoplastic materials, where to source them, and how to incorporate them into your own creative practice.
Throughout the workshop, you’ll build practical skills by creating a beginner-friendly project of your choice: either a small sculpted character or a custom bracer (forearm armour piece), with plenty of opportunities to personalize and decorate your design. By the end of the class, you’ll have a solid understanding of thermoplastics, the confidence to continue experimenting on your own, and a finished project to take home.
