Free-motion Sewing: Textile Art Naturescapes – Darcy Hunter

May 18 @ 9:00 am - May 19 @ 4:00 pm

$164.00 – $205.00

TWO-DAY WORKSHOP – May 18 and 19, 2024 | 9 am – 4 pm

Discover the joy of creating vibrant textile artwork with Darcy’s easy fabric mosaic tile sewing technique. In this course, embark on a creative journey where you’ll delve into the fundamentals by creating a sample and then using the skills to craft your own imagery.  Learn the technique using either Darcy’s “Autumn at the Lake” or the “Tranquil Morning” pattern designs, both celebrated in the esteemed pages of Art Quilting Studio magazine. Your finished piece , measuring a charming 8 by 10 inches, will be elegantly mounted onto an 11 by 14-inch mat board, perfectly suited for framing in an 11 by 14-inch frame.

On the second day, you will have the opportunity to explore your creative side and design your own beautiful landscape using the skills you have learned in the course. Whether you have a photo you love or simply an idea in mind, let your imagination run wild as you bring your unique creation to life with fabric and thread. You can either purchase materials on-site or bring your own supplies.

Participants should come equipped with a basic understanding of their sewing machine and some prior experience with free-motion quilting. Be sure to bring along your embroidery/darning foot and essential sewing supplies to enhance your experience.

Regular ticket price (March 1, 12 pm – May 5, 11:30 pm): $205

NBCCD staff, faculty, and current students receive 20% off regular ticket sales while supplies last. Find the NBCCD Discount ticket below.

Additional material fee: $45 which includes a pattern kit that will be required to complete their artwork.

Additional Instructions: Participants are required to bring their own sewing machine with an embroidery/darning foot for this workshop. Plain paper for sketching, pencil, eraser, basic sewing supplies and free motion quilting gloves (optional).
