Whether you're interested in half-day workshops or multi-week courses, there's something for everyone! Located in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, we offer hands-on experiences in a variety of subjects, all taught in either the beautiful studios at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design (NBCCD) or one of our partnering locations.

Intro to Smocking Techniques – Theophiline Mills

ONE-DAY WORKSHOP – October 18, 2025 | 9 am – 4 pm
Discover the timeless art of smocking in this hands-on workshop designed to introduce you to the beauty of fabric manipulation through decorative stitching. You’ll learn how to prepare fabric, transfer smocking designs, and apply basic hand smocking stitches to create elegant, textured patterns.
With guidance and practice, you’ll gain confidence in gathering fabric evenly and shaping it with precision. By the end of the class, you’ll complete a custom smocked pillowcase—perfect for adding a unique, handmade touch to your home décor.
This beginner-friendly workshop is ideal for sewing enthusiasts and creatives looking to deepen their fabric manipulation skills. It offers a strong foundation in smocking with plenty of support and inspiration.

THE INSTRUCTOR:
Theophiline Mills is a skilled Ghanaian fashion designer with a Mathematics with Business Bachelors degree and professional training in fashion design and bridal wear. She founded her brand, ABA McMILLS , in 2016, specializing in bespoke garments, limited ready-to-wear collections, and collaborations with musical artists. With expertise in project planning, she has managed fashion events like Glitz Africa Fashion Week, one of Africa’s premier fashion showcases. Now based in Fredericton, NB, Theophiline continues to inspire creatives and is organizing a workshop on Creative Fabric Manipulation to share her innovative techniques with fashion enthusiasts.

FAQ
Refunds
If a request for a refund is submitted at least 14 days before the course begins, you will be eligible for a 94% refund. A 6% deduction will cover the administration costs and stripe service fee. For refund requests made between 8 and 13 days before the course begins, a 75% refund will be granted. If a refund request is received within 7 days or less before the course start date, a refund will not be issued unless we can fill your spot with another participant. In the event that a participant cannot attend an in-person course due to illness, they can receive a Honeybee voucher for 75% of the value of their course that can be paid towards another class in the future. The participant will need to notify the Honeybee Coordinator before the course begins.
Cancellations
If a workshop is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances regarding the instructor facilities or low enrolment, a 100% refund will be granted to registered participants. If class is cancelled due to weather, the course will be moved to the following weekend (unless otherwise specified). If you cannot attend the new scheduled time, you will be granted a 100% refund.
