Located in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, we offer hands-on experiences in a variety of subjects, all taught in either the beautiful studios at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design (NBCCD) or one of our partnering locations.

Intuitive Textile Seascapes – Darcy Hunter

5-DAY  WORKSHOP

Dive into the enchanting realm of textile artistry with the, “Intuitive Textile Art Seascapes” workshop. Led by a seasoned instructor, this immersive journey invites you to unlock your creativity as you explore a myriad of techniques to bring to life  mesmerizing seascapes Through combining a variety of fabrics and sewing techniques. 

Through hands-on exploration, you’ll assemble a comprehensive sample book, delving into the intricacies of constructing captivating skies, seas, and landscapes. With newfound skills, you’ll unleash your imagination to create a seascape uniquely your own, infusing it with depth, texture.

Guided by Darcy Hunter, you’ll navigate finishing techniques, learning to adorn your 11 x 14-inch artwork with finesse and flair, from stitching to embellishments. 

Participants should come equipped with a basic understanding of their sewing machine and some prior experience with free-motion quilting. Be sure to bring along your embroidery/darning foot and essential sewing supplies to enhance your experience. You can either purchase materials on-site or bring your own supplies.

 

TICKET PRICING & MATERIAL COST:

Regular ticket price (March 22, 12pm – June 23, 11:30pm): $395

Additional material fee: $50 to cover fabrics and supplies required to create your sample book.

Additional Instructions: Participants are required to bring their own sewing machine with an embroidery/darning foot for this workshop. Please bring a large hardcover sketchbook, sewing kit, pen/pencil and eraser, double-sided tape, Elmer’s glue stick, and Elmer’s white glue, assorted threads for your sewing machine, sharp scissors, straight pins, rotary cutter and any fabrics you have at home. The material fee covers the fabric but the participants are welcome to bring more options.

THE INSTRUCTOR:

Darcy Hunter, a quilt artist from Fredericton, New Brunswick, creates representational textile art inspired by her profound love for the natural world. Darcy’s pieces embody the colour, movement, and essence of her surroundings and have been in juried exhibitions nationwide. Utilizing her teaching background, she leads workshops, speaking engagements, and has had numerous magazine publications. Actively pursuing growth, she engages in residencies, attains grants, and has completed impactful projects like “Connecting to the Environment Through Art” with elementary students. A juried member of Craft NB and Regional Co-Rep of Studio Art Quilt Associates, Darcy’s art graces collections across North America.

FAQ

Refunds

If a request for a refund is submitted at least 14 days before the course begins, you will be eligible for a 94% refund. A 6% deduction will cover the administration costs and stripe service fee. For refund requests made between 8 and 13 days before the course begins, a 75% refund will be granted. If a refund request is received within 7 days or less before the course start date, a refund will not be issued unless we can fill your spot with another participant. In the event that a participant cannot attend an in-person course due to illness, they can receive a Honeybee voucher for 75% of the value of their course that can be paid towards another class in the future. The participant will need to notify the Honeybee Coordinator before the course begins.

Cancellations

If a workshop is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances regarding the instructor facilities or low enrolment, a 100% refund will be granted to registered participants. If class is cancelled due to weather, the course will be moved to the following weekend (unless otherwise specified). If you cannot attend the new scheduled time, you will be granted a 100% refund.
