THE INSTRUCTOR:

Karen LeBlanc has practiced the art of weaving for over 40 years. After recently retiring from a senior project manager position with an Indigenous non-profit organization, Karen now gives back to the community through her artwork and time. Her pieces focus on several distinct streams: weaving traditional, functional, and practical pieces on four or eight-harness looms; innovative, contemporary tapestry pieces woven on tapestry looms; and stitched pieces made from repurposed tartan kilts or other fabrics. Karen has exhibited her work around the world, representing the craft of weaving internationally, nationally, regionally, and locally. More recently, she participated in residencies programs in Fredericton, Toronto, and Parrsboro.
