THE INSTRUCTOR:
Lena is a biologist and artist from New Brunswick. She leverages her artistic practice to engage with the natural environment outside of the scientific lens, although her artwork is greatly informed by scientific-styled illustration. Her work often involves detailed observational studies of biology located on the east coast. Lena tends to gravitate towards shells, mosses and fish, usually subjects that are found in the wild on the coast. Her painting practice allows her to dedicate time to close observation of various natural forms, celebrating the diversity of life we encounter on the east coast.
