Learn bookbinding, and the art behind it in this one-day immersive workshop. Designed for beginners our instructor, Rhonda Miller, will show you everything you need to know about traditional bookbinding. During this course, you will create a versatile binding structure that produces a book with a smooth and elegant appearance suitable for journals or small editions, a little different than the ones seen in the image. All your tools and materials will be provided, just bring yourself and a passion to learn. Come and join this one day workshop and learn bookbinding from a master in the art!
TICKET PRICING & MATERIAL COST:
Regular ticket price (August 15 @ 12pm – November 11 @ 11:30pm): $119

Additional material fee: $30 paid to the instructor on the day of the workshop. Please bring pencils and scissors with you.

THE INSTRUCTOR:
Rhonda Miller is a bookbinder with over twenty years experience and she has an undying fascination with book structure and historical bookbinding. She does custom bookbinding, book repair and restoration, and paper marbling. While earning her Masters of Library and Information Studies degree, she studied bookbinding at the Dawson Printshop at Dalhousie University. Later, she continued to learn through a variety of workshops and courses such as the Paper and Book Intensive. Rhonda is owner and operator of MyHandboundBooks Studio and Scotia Bookbinding in Halifax. She teaches bookbinding and paper marbling at The Centre for Craft Nova Scotia.

FAQ
Refunds
If a request for a refund is made between 8 and 14 days before the course begins, a 95% refund will be granted (5% will be retained to cover processing fees). If a request for a refund is made 7 days or fewer before the course begins, a refund will only be granted if the participant’s spot is able to be filled.
If a participant is unable to attend a course due to illness or family emergency, they may be eligible to receive a voucher for a portion of the course fee. The participant must notify the HFS Coordinator at HoneybeeFolkSchool@nbccd.ca as soon as possible. The voucher amount will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may be up to 75% of the course fee.
Cancellations
If a workshop is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances regarding the instructor, facilities or low enrolment, a 100% refund will be granted to registered participants.
If a class is cancelled due to inclement weather a new date will be set. If a participant cannot attend the rescheduled time, you will be granted a 100% refund.
