Lino Printmaking – Julie Whitenect

Dive into the world of printmaking! Lino prints are one of the most diverse and accessible methods of printmaking, whether you have access to a printmaking studio or just work at your kitchen table. Learn about the history and capabilities of the medium while discovering your own style. Students will be provided with the tools they need to make a small edition of prints, with lots of room for experimentation.

Mosaic Sun Catcher – Sheryl Crowley

Sunshine streaming through a riot of colour. In this workshop we will create a framed glass mosaic that may be placed in a window. It will be a “glass on glass” technique. Using clear adhesive the glass tiles will be attached to a glass sheet within a picture frame. You will have instruction on the “glass on glass” mosaic making process and on how to safely and accurately cut glass tile. No mosaic making experience is necessary. Tools and tiles supplied. Each participant needs to bring no larger than an 8” x 10” frame with its glass insert.

Develop your figure drawing skills, by broadening your knowledge of human anatomy and understanding how it can inform your drawings. You will learn through a combination of anatomy lectures, drawing demonstrations, analysis of photographic reference, drawing practice from a live model, and receiving feedback on your work.

Intro to Solar Printing – Renata Britez

In this intro course, you’ll learn all the steps required to create your solar prints of found materials. From an introduction to tools and materials, to creating images on transparent media or photo film using exposure to natural light. Discover how to apply your prints onto different surfaces such as paper, fabric, and wood, with the use of photos, plants, flowers, and even objects to create unique patterns and designs.
Solar printing is one of the oldest photographic printing processes which uses photosensitive solutions and exposure to ultraviolet light (the sun). The result is a monoprint with distinctive brilliant blue, pink, purple, and orange hues.

Eco Printing – Renata Britez

Get to know the colourful bounty of Maritimes flora by working with fresh plants foraged by Natural Dyer Renata Britez. Natural dyeing can be fun, but the experience of using seasonal and regionally relevant plants, as opposed to pre-extracted and imported powders, provides a real connection to this age-old process. Participants will come away with an understanding of natural dyeing with fresh raw dye surface design techniques. Each participant will have sample swatches in various sustainable fibres, a finished silk scarf dyed with local colour, as well as informational handouts on how to repeat the process at home with local plants.

FAQ

Refunds

If a request for a refund is submitted at least 14 days before the course begins, you will be eligible for a 94% refund. A 6% deduction will cover the administration costs and stripe service fee. For refund requests made between 8 and 13 days before the course begins, a 75% refund will be granted. If a refund request is received within 7 days or less before the course start date, a refund will not be issued unless we can fill your spot with another participant. In the event that a participant cannot attend an in-person course due to illness, they can receive a Honeybee voucher for 75% of the value of their course that can be paid towards another class in the future. The participant will need to notify the Honeybee Coordinator before the course begins.

Cancellations

If a workshop is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances regarding the instructor facilities or low enrolment, a 100% refund will be granted to registered participants. If class is cancelled due to weather, the course will be moved to the following weekend (unless otherwise specified). If you cannot attend the new scheduled time, you will be granted a 100% refund.
