Dive into the world of printmaking! Lino prints are one of the most diverse and accessible methods of printmaking, whether you have access to a printmaking studio or just work at your kitchen table. Learn about the history and capabilities of the medium while discovering your own style. Students will be provided with the tools they need to make a small edition of prints, with lots of room for experimentation.
Sunshine streaming through a riot of colour. In this workshop we will create a framed glass mosaic that may be placed in a window. It will be a “glass on glass” technique. Using clear adhesive the glass tiles will be attached to a glass sheet within a picture frame. You will have instruction on the “glass on glass” mosaic making process and on how to safely and accurately cut glass tile. No mosaic making experience is necessary. Tools and tiles supplied. Each participant needs to bring no larger than an 8” x 10” frame with its glass insert.
In this beginner course, learn how to carve wood without the use of power tools in your journey as a new woodcarver. The learning will focus around spoon and kuksa carving.
Learn how to make really delicious bread and pizza in a wood fired oven! Once our bread is shaped, happily rising and baking in the oven we will cover rudiments of simple pizza dough making. We will discuss some history, ethics and background on grains, flour and other ingredients that are used in making pizzas. You will experience bread shaping, rolling techniques, essential knife and cutting skills, making and topping your own pizzas and will come out of this workshop carrying your own loaf of hot sourdough bread and 1 or 2 different pizzas to boot. Get your hands dirty! Brenda Parks will teach you the basics of clay on both the pottery wheel and through hand-building techniques. Learn about the different pottery tools, how to center on the wheel, and work on finishing with trimming and glazing. Develop your figure drawing skills, by broadening your knowledge of human anatomy and understanding how it can inform your drawings. You will learn through a combination of anatomy lectures, drawing demonstrations, analysis of photographic reference, drawing practice from a live model, and receiving feedback on your work.
Depict the colours and textures of your favourite landscape with wool! In this two-day course, learn about various kinds of wool (a sustainable material) and see how they work in this ancient craft of felt-making! Using two felting techniques (wet-felting and dry or needle-felting), play with colours and textures and create wall hangings to take home with you. If you like, bring a photo or sketch of a chosen landscape. The instructor will provide samples and additional photos for inspiration; walk you through the wet-felting and needle-felting processes; demonstrate the basics of embellishing finished felted work with hand-stitching; and give options for framing your finished work. You will complete two small samples and one larger work (approx. 16x20") over two days.
In this intro course, you’ll learn all the steps required to create your solar prints of found materials. From an introduction to tools and materials, to creating images on transparent media or photo film using exposure to natural light. Discover how to apply your prints onto different surfaces such as paper, fabric, and wood, with the use of photos, plants, flowers, and even objects to create unique patterns and designs.
Solar printing is one of the oldest photographic printing processes which uses photosensitive solutions and exposure to ultraviolet light (the sun). The result is a monoprint with distinctive brilliant blue, pink, purple, and orange hues.
A delightfully creative overlap between photography and textile arts. Learn how to stitch on printed photographs to add texture and colour. Liven up those old misprints in the bottom of the old family photo box or let your imagination run wild by turning magazine and book pages into one-of-a-kind artwork.

In this two-day workshop, students will be introduced to the sewing machine from threading the machine, to winding a bobbin and sewing straight and curved seams. Try zig zag stitching, inserting a zipper and make a pattern to create a small project. All machinery, tools and fabrics will be provided. Students are welcome to bring some of their own fabric (cotton, no stretch) or their own machines if they would prefer.

In this three-day workshop, students will combine sewing knowledge with basic pattern construction to create their own projects. Students are expected to have basic domestic sewing machine knowledge, including threading and straight stitching experience.
Choose from a series of patterns provided by the instructor, and customize to suit your needs. Come prepared to make mistakes, learn while you create and come away with a creation to be proud of!
Get to know the colourful bounty of Maritimes flora by working with fresh plants foraged by Natural Dyer Renata Britez. Natural dyeing can be fun, but the experience of using seasonal and regionally relevant plants, as opposed to pre-extracted and imported powders, provides a real connection to this age-old process. Participants will come away with an understanding of natural dyeing with fresh raw dye surface design techniques. Each participant will have sample swatches in various sustainable fibres, a finished silk scarf dyed with local colour, as well as informational handouts on how to repeat the process at home with local plants.

If a request for a refund is submitted at least 14 days before the course begins, you will be eligible for a 94% refund. A 6% deduction will cover the administration costs and stripe service fee. For refund requests made between 8 and 13 days before the course begins, a 75% refund will be granted. If a refund request is received within 7 days or less before the course start date, a refund will not be issued unless we can fill your spot with another participant. In the event that a participant cannot attend an in-person course due to illness, they can receive a Honeybee voucher for 75% of the value of their course that can be paid towards another class in the future. The participant will need to notify the Honeybee Coordinator before the course begins.
If a workshop is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances regarding the instructor facilities or low enrolment, a 100% refund will be granted to registered participants. If class is cancelled due to weather, the course will be moved to the following weekend (unless otherwise specified). If you cannot attend the new scheduled time, you will be granted a 100% refund.
